The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is also known as IITKGP and it is one of the most prestigious institutions in the country. It is an autonomous university that was established in the year 1951. The institute has had record places every year and has got a highly trained all-rounder faculty. The scholarships provided by the institute are merit cum means which help many economically weaker students to pursue their studies at this institute. IITKGP is one of the best architecture colleges in the country, if not the best. It has a high cut-off and it is very difficult to get it. Nonetheless, it is the dream institute of many who continue to work hard to achieve a seat in this institute.

Admission Process

It is important to know that all admissions in the B. Arch program are on the basis of IIT-JEE. The undergraduate program is divided into ten semesters. The students who are willing to take admission in the Bachelor of Architecture program have to take the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE). And that should be done prior to filling out an application for the institution. Every course has a unique admission process however the basis of it all is the same and here is the basic process of admission in IIT KGP.

● Visit the official website of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. There are various sub-sections divided according to the course type and entrance required for the same. Therefore after visiting the site, one has to go to the admission portal and then click on the entrance exam registration required for their desired course

● For example, for certain pg programs that require GATE qualification, one has registered with the common offer application portal first. Thus, after you have filled out the application in the required section. You can proceed further.

● Fill out the required application form. Fill in all the details like education qualification, name, etc.

● Upload the required documents supporting the information in the application such as certificates, signatures, etc.

● Pay the application fee. And print the form for later reference.

Result and Cut off

IITKGP is one of the most prestigious institutions in the country, so it is only acceptable when it has a standard cutoff for the courses it offers. The admission in every course is largely based on the entrance exam's result that is required for the desired course. Better than rank, higher is the chance of getting admitted to the institute. The college also demands a strict 60% aggregate in master's degree or bachelor's degree that the applicant has done prior to admission in the course. The candidate has to appear in all the entrance exams required for the courses prior to taking admission in any course that the institute offers.

Placements

There are great places in IITKGP. There are over 200 companies that participate every year in the campus pools of the institution and offer a wide range of places to the students. There is a record-breaking 93-98% of the placement rate in the last year, which was an 8% increase from 2019. The institute organizes placement sessions every year for the Architectural department. The authorities ensure that there is maximum participation of the companies and the students in the recruitment process. The Highest CTC was INR 12-13 LPA, while the Average was CTC: INR 9-12 LPA for the architectural students. There are also summer internships that the college offers were internships to its final year students.

IITKGP has some of the best facilities on its campus. Ranging from a library which is one of the largest and finest technical libraries in the whole of Asia. The campus also has cafeterias like the subway, café coffee day, and many other eateries for students to enjoy. The hostel facilities are evidently huge on the campus for both girls and boys that can cater to over 12,000 students. It also has a variety of sports complexes like basketball, volleyball, tennis, squash, badminton court along with pool and weightlifting, gym, etc. The institute also has a variety of labs like the computer, chemistry, machine, and mechanical lab on the campus.
