Indian Institute of Technology Delhi holds the pride of place among the elite engineering colleges of India. It is one of those IITs that stand out as Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology.

The origin of the institution dates back to 1961, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed as “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. Which has the status of a Deemed University today.
