Overview
The Department of Business Administration and Research offered the first postgraduate degree program in Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon, starting in 1994. It has grown to become one of the best known Business Schools located in rural India, with a yearly intake of 60 students who can specialize in up to two disciplines (e.g. Marketing, Human Resources, Finance). It is affiliated to the nearby Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, and also features a small PhD Doctoral program (with an intake of 4 students per year).
Over 90% of students (54 out of 60) have been placed in the most recent placement season, with a few results still awaited. The highest placement package in the 2023 placement year was INR 10.25 Lakh, awarded by IMCS Limited (Indore). The Department has seen a constant growth in placement rates, with fewer than 60% of students being placed in the 2019 placement season, growing to 90% (and counting) within a four year period. The biggest job offers usually come from financial sector majors, with HDFC, Axis, and Kotak Mahindra Bank all recruiting multiple students from campus - making it the top MBA college in Shegaon.
The placement activities are supplemented by regular live projects, summer internships, talks by eminent business personalities, and industrial visits (e.g. to the Adani Port Special Economic Zone). This structure is similar to that in the best MBA colleges in India.
