Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth

Overview

The name Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth was given to the institute by Mahatma Gandhi. The University is a great tribute to the towering freedom fighter of India – Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

At the time of award of the status of "Deemed to be University" the Vidyapeeth had only three faculties, namely those of Ayurveda, Sanskrit, and Social Science. Subsequently, new faculties were formed in the fields of Modern Sciences, Management, Health Science and Law. Today the Vidyapeeth offers post-graduate education through M. Sc (CA), MBA, MSW, LLB., MJ, B.Lib.I.Sc, M.Lib.I.Sc, MA (Social Sciences), MA (Marathi, Hindi, English, Japanese, Sanskrit, Indology), Ayurved and M.Com along with undergraduate education through BCA, BBA, Journalism, BHMCT (Hotel Management), BPT, B.Sc.-Nursing, B.Com and B.A.

Vision

The exponential growth of the university can be attributed to its democratic vision and focus on integrating in teaching modern pedagogy, as can be seen from the vision statement:

To impart National Education through a fine blend of traditional and modern teaching (knowledge) as well as to democratize quality higher education by empowering the masses and reaching the unreached.

Research and Development

The University deserves plaudits for conducting considerable research with its respective prime focus on –

• Promotion and protection of our great Indian heritage and tradition through the study of Sanskrit
• Application of the innovative concept of an interdisciplinary approach to emerging social issues and challenges
• Imparting Ayurvedic knowledge of preventive medicine and positive health to the masses.

In the prestigious and widely acclaimed educational ranking of Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF- 2021), Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth at 69th Rank in IIRF Deemed University Ranking 2021.
