Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University is a private state university which is situated in Chandigarh, Punjab and was established in 2004 by the Punjab state government and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university offers various diploma, certificates, undergraduatepostgraduate, and doctoral programs in several specializations such as science, arts, languages, social science, education, information science, engineeringmanagement, commerce, medical science, and many more.

The university runs several scholarship schemes that financially help students from the weaker financial section and students with exceptional academic records. The university offers free education for Amritdhari Sikh girls. The university has more than 350 teaching staff who have a lot of experience in the teaching field and have an exceptional set of knowledge of their subjects that help students during their academic sessions and later in their professional careers.

The university's focus is on the holistic development of the students in every field, so they offer a lot of extracurricular activities to promote the all round development of the students. The university organizes various seminars, workshops, webinars, live training programs, and guest lectures from industrial experts to enhance the skills of the individual. The students get global exposure by attending the webinars and learn about the industrial environments through the guest lectures. The university offers various industrial visits for students during their academic sessions. The campus of the university is spread over a huge area of 137 acres, which has all the facilities that are needed by the students during their academic session. Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University is ranked 118th in all India and the 7th state university of Punjab by the IIRF University Rankings 2023, among the top universities in India.

  • The Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences offers courses like B.Sc, M.Sc, and Ph.D in various specializations like physics, chemistry, mathematics, zoology, botany, biochemistry, and many more.

Admission Process

The candidates need to follow the given procedures to get admission to the university.

  • The candidates need to visit the official website of the university to apply in online mode.
  • The candidates are asked to register themselves on the official website of the university using their mobile numbers and email IDs.
  • The candidates have to login to fill in the application form with the required personal details and upload the necessary documents like marksheets and certificates of previous academic records along with their photographs and signatures.
  • The candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs. 600 for the applied course, and they can add more courses for an extra 100 rupees for each.
  • The university prepares a merit list of the students and calls the students for counseling which will include document verification and interviews if the desired course requires so.
  • The selected candidates were asked to submit the admission fee before a given time to confirm their seats at the university.

Results and Cut off

The university offers admission to students on the basis of their previous academic records, and a preference is given to students having cutoff marks in the national level entrance examinations.

The university conducts an entrance examination for admission to the doctoral courses. Students with the cutoff marks in the entrance examination have to go through another round of group discussions and personal interviews and make sure to score good marks to get into the merit list prepared by the university.

The eligibility of the candidates is necessary to get admission to the university. The students need to pass the 10+2 or an equivalent level of examination from a recognized board of education to get admission to an undergraduate course. The undergraduate courses in engineering need at least 50% marks, while other courses require at least 45% marks. For a master’s degree, students need to have an undergraduate degree in similar subjects from a recognized university with at least 55% marks. For doctoral programs, students need to have a master’s degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university with at least 55% marks, and a relaxation of 5% is given to reserve category students.

Placement

The university has a training and placement cell that prepares the students to participate in various campus placement drives that are regularly happening at the university campus. The students are equipped with personality development classes that enhance the overall personality of the students and prepare them to face interviews and aptitude tests. The university has over 400 companies that have visited the university so far. The university calls over 72 recruiters each year, and the highest salary package offered to any student at the university is 13 lakhs per annum. The major recruiters of the university are Nestle, Weikfield, HDFC Bank ,MK Brothers, Vodafone, and many more.

The alumni of the university are the connection between the university and the corporate world. The alumni are working in various sectors of employment in government and private organizations. Some of the notable alumni of the university are mentioned below.

Campus Facilities

The campus of the university is located in Chandigarh, Punjab and spread over an area of 137 acres. The campus has a lot of greenery and an open environment that offers suitable conditions for educational purposes. The university offers facilities like hostels, transportation, library, cafeteria, mess, laboratories, workshops, banking facilities, medical facilities, and many more.

The laboratories and workshops at the university campus are equipped with the tools and resources that are needed to impart practical knowledge and skills to the students. The computer lab at the university has a lot of computers with the latest software and wi-fi connectivity.

The university has a branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) that offers banking facilities to students inside the campus. The bank has an ATM from which the students and staff can withdraw money to fulfill their needs at the campus.

There are different hostels for boys and girls, and they have spacious rooms with modern facilities. The charges for hostel rooms are 12,000 rupees per semester, and for food, the students have to pay monthly for the mess. The mess at the campus offers tasty and healthy food to the students and staff.

The university offers medical facilities for students. The campus has medical stores and an OPD that offer free services to the students. The university has a transportation service that picks up and drops off students in each corner of the city. The cafeterias at the campus offer snacks and refreshments for the students and staff.
