Academic Excellence

The Lakshmi Bai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) is a leading Deemed University, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs Government of India. It is known for promoting excellence in sports and physical education in the country. The campus is situated on the Agra - Mumbai National Highway at Shaktinagar, Gwalior in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

The Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education began its life in 1957, in the form of Lakshmibai College of Physical Education (LCPE), in memory of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, as a college of physical education, affiliated to Vikram University, Ujjain. In 2000, the present name of Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education was accepted when it was granted the status of a deemed to be university.

Prime Objectives

This institute is known for its contribution in promoting the interest of the youth in physical education as also games and sports. The prime objectives of the institute can be summed up thus:

• Assisting other sports-based institutes and organizations in India through academic and professional guidance;

In the prestigious and widely acclaimed educational ranking of Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF- 2025), LNIPE at 67^th Rank in IIRF Deemed University Ranking 2025.
