Assam Down Town University

Overview

Assam Down Town University is situated in the city of Guwahati, Assam, and was established under the Down Town Trust in 2010. The university was established with the aim of providing better education to the north-east people at a cheap cost,  but it evolved with time and now has students from all corners.

This university has turned out to be the largest private university in Assam, with more than 8000 students and over 250 faculty members. The university has a memorandum of understanding with some of the top industry leaders and academicians who enhance the learning capabilities of the students and make them ready to face the challenges of life and career.

The university offers various courses and degrees in a lot of disciplines, such as sciences, engineering, allied health science, management, social sciences, humanities, and nursing to pharmacy. The university is known for its continuous upgradation of the academic model and the courses, along with the syllabus, that help students perform well at the international level.

The students from various parts of India and around the globe are studying here while sharing their cultural and ethical background with each other. The university believes in change, and they provide international links for research and student exchange programs. Course Highlights

● The Faculty of Engineering and Technology offers degrees in civil engineering, computer science engineering, mechanical engineering, and many more.

● The Faculty of Paramedical Sciences offers diplomas, graduation, and masters degrees in various specializations such as paramedical sciences, optometry, physiotherapy, and many more.

● The Faculty of Commerce and Management offers graduation and masters degrees in various specializations such as business management, hotel management and catering technologies, and many more.

● The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offers graduation and master's degrees in several specializations like sociology, social work, performing arts, etc.

Admission Process

The students need to follow the following procedures to get admission to the university.

● The students have to register themselves on the official site of the university with an email ID.

● The university will verify the email ID.

● After the verification of the email ID, the candidate can fill in the online application form with the required details.

● The student needs to choose the desirable course and upload the proper documents required for it.

● Submission of the application fee will be the final process to complete the application form.

● One can take admission to the university after submitting the application form if they fulfill the eligibility criteria.

Results and Cut off

Various programs have different eligibility criteria. The engineering degree requires 60% marks in 10+2 with physics, chemistry, and math as the primary subjects. Hotel and management requires 45% in the previous academic records. For a master in medicine, one needs to have 50% marks in his/her graduation. A relaxation of 5% is given to students belonging to the SC/ST or OBC categories. The university conducts entrance examinations for some courses. Some of the government and state-level entrance exams are also considered for admissions.

Placement

The university offers placement drives on campus; most of the students get placed during their academic sessions. The placement cell at the university provides all the information to the students and trains them with mock interviews and aptitude tests. The students get a chance to explore themselves and have all-round personality development to face the interview and do well in their specific careers. The major recruiters at the university are Just Dial, Infosys, TCS, ACC, Aditya Birla Group, etc.

The alumni from this university are spread all around the world, working in every sector of employment. The university gives special emphasis on developing a relationship with the alumni by registering them on the college portal that provides them with regular updates of the university. The alumni help to build a relationship between the corporate world and the university that further helps students in placements and internships.

Campus Facilities

The campus of the Assam Down Town University is located in the touristic location of Guwahati, Assam. The location is best suitable for the university to provide a stress-free and pure environment with a lot of greenery and trees for the students. The university offers all the facilities that enhance the academic efficiency of the students. 

The university offers a well-maintained library for the students' academic progress that is equipped with a lot of books, journals, daily newspapers, etc. Students have free access to the library; they can check out any book they want for a session.

The university also offers a facility with a swimming pool where the students can learn how to swim and also perform some sports activities. The university offers sports grounds for the students' physical fitness. The students get a chance to participate in various sports events that happen regularly at the university.

There is a gym, a yoga studio, and an indoor sports ground, along with a basketball court, for  students who want to improve their physical fitness and regularly play some of the sports. An ATM is available on campus, which provides easy access to money to the students whenever they need some.

The university believes in the all-around development of a student, for the extracurricular activities, they offer a cinema hall and an amphitheater to perform some of the art forms like singing, dance, drama, etc.
