Overview

Madha Medical College & Research Institute is situated in Thandlam in Tamil Nadu and was established by Loordhu Ammal Educational Trust, Chennai in the year 2011 as a self-financing Christian minority institution for providing medical education, research and health care. The college is located in a prime location and is only 10 km away from the Chennai airport, making it easier for the students to travel here from any part of the world. The campus of the college is big and has a huge infrastructure. The canteen, library, hostel, and sports ground impart state-of-the-art education and an environment that helps in the comprehensive development of the students into disciplined, knowledgeable, and humane doctors and healthcare professionals.  

The hospital here at the college plays a major role in the development of the practical knowledge in the students and makes them ready to face any real-life situations. The hospital is equipped with modern instruments and advanced features, which are used to save the lives of the local people.

The college has various departments like preclinical, paraclinical, and clinical that provide education in several specializations like anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacy, anesthesia, cardiology, general medicine, and many more. There are a total of 150 seats in MBBS, which are allotted to the students by the state government, management, and foreign student quota. The experienced faculty members and the doctors who provide live training to the students and make them ready to work anywhere in the medical field.

● The Preclinical department provides the MBBS in various specializations, such as in anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry.

● The PARA CLINICAL department offers MBBS in several specializations in Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, and Community Medicine.

● The Clinical (Broad Specialties) department deals with the following specializations like Anaesthesia, General Medicine, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Radio Diagnosis, TB & Chest Medicine.

● The college has a CLINICAL(SUPER SPECIALTIES) department that offers specialization in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Clinical Skills, Medical Gastroenterology, Medical Oncology, Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Rheumatology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Surgical Oncology, Transfusion Medicine, Vascular Surgery, and Urology.

Admission Process

The college provides admissions through the marks obtained in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) scorecard. Although the students need to follow this process.

● The student should have passed 10+2 from any recognized board with physics, chemistry, and biology as their primary subjects.

● The students need to fill up the NEET application form.

● The student has to participate in the NEET examination on the given date on their admit card.

● After securing a cutoff mark, the student becomes eligible to apply to the college for  admissions.

● Everyone has to go through the counseling process for the confirmation of their seat at the college.

● Although the college also provides management quota seats in the case of empty seats.

● After the final checking of the documents and eligibility, the student is provided with the provisional admission.

● The students have to pay the admission fee to confirm their admission.

Results and Cutoff

The college requires similar results and cutoffs as the other medical colleges. The students need to pass the 10+2 exam with a minimum of 50% marks in physics, chemistry, and biology, and a special relaxation of 10% marks is given to the candidates belonging to the reserve category.

The students have to qualify for the NEET examination and should have the cutoff marks of their category. The college offers admission on the basis of state rank and management rank.

Placements

The college does not hold any campus placement drive but makes the students enhance their skills and practice for one year at their hospital to get a job in any private and government hospital at a good salary. The students are equipped with the knowledge and skills that help them to get a job of their own. Internships and training are provided by the college.

The alumni from the college are currently working in many government and private hospitals, which form a connection between the college and the hospitals and provide a chance for the institute to share knowledge and experience with those outside of the college.

The campus is located in the prime location of Chennai as it is only 10 km away from the airport which facilitates the students with easy mobilization to their homes and college. The college provides separate boys and girls hostels for the students. The hostel rooms are spacious and get cleaned on a regular basis.

Overall the college has a good infrastructure which is fully wi-fi enabled and daily adding up new technologies to make the student learning experience better. The mess facility is also there for the students and the staff. They provide nutritious and tasty foods, keeping the health of students in mind.
