The history of the Medical Institute dates back to the year when only 14 students were there in 1871, its official first batch. In 1879, Sir Byramjee Jeejeebhoy did a great job, by donating an amount of INR 20,000, that was enough during that time and the college was named after his name. The medical school is affiliated with the Ahmedabad Civil hospital and Gujarat University. Apart, greatest from offering an MBBS degree, the college is proudly giving Education to postgraduates. Several institutes are affiliated with the B.J Medical college. It has almost 26 departments across three different fields, including Clinical, Pre-clinical, and Paraclinical. The per-annum fee is INR 25,000.
The students have to undergo a one-year internship. The college assists students to get the best internship and they are paid Rs 15,000 as a stipend per month.
