Overview

The Bharath Institute of Law in Chennai , Tamil Nadu, has the objective to evolve quality education in the field of law. They impart knowledge based on the current scenarios that aim for better legal education. They are focusing more on clinical legal education. They are a part of BIHER,that is, Bharat Institute of Higher Education and Research. Bharat Institute of Higher Education and Research is a culturally diverse university which provides higher education to 10,000 odd students from all over the world. It functions out of four campuses spread over an area of ​​more than 305 acres of land. It was established in the year 1984, and now has extensive facilities, which include huge libraries, hostels for boys and girls, sports complexes, laboratories, air-conditioned classrooms, medical facilities, and many other services. They have over 1,300 teaching faculty members in the university offering classes for the undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. D. programs. Their mission is to educate and develop a community that understands and follows appropriate actions and behaviors as law-abiding citizens to help achieve social justice for all. They aim to develop a team of youngsters that will practice law with dedication and social commitment. BIHER also consists of other institutions in Chennai and Puducherry. The first of its kind was established in 1984 as Bharat Institute of Science and Technology. 

Courses Eligibility

BBA, LL. B. (Hons.) B. Com., LL. B. (Hons.) BA, LL. B. (Hons.)The candidate should have a 10+2 pass certificate with not less than 50% of the total marks. The candidates that belong to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe should have secured not less than 45% to be eligible.
Post Graduate Degree - 3-Year LL. B. (Hons.) DegreeCandidates who have a graduate degree in BA, B. Sc., BE, B. Tech., MBBS, B. Pharm. or any stream with a pass certificate of 50% aggregate are eligible to apply for the course.

Admission Process 

• Step 1: The application form available on the website has to be filled in if the candidate is eligible for applying to the course. For that, the candidate will have to get registered with the college first.

• Step 2: Once the user is verified, the application form can be filled in and submitted. 

For their UG programmes, they take 120 students in each course, which is further divided into two sections. 

Ranking

Bharath Institute of Law, BIHER, Chennai is ranked 14th among Top 50 Law Colleges (Private) in India by IIRF  (Indian Institutional Ranking Framework 2024).

The NIRF ranking of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research in the overall category is 87, and it is ranked at the 59th position among universities in the year 2020.

The national assessment and accreditation council accredits Bharath Institute of Law as an A grade college. In addition, they have the title of the "Best Globalized Higher Education Institution". 

They have been ranked as the Best Private University of the year 2016 and have a AAA rating by Careers360. 

Fees

For Five years BBA, LL. B. (Hons.) and B.Com., LLB, and three-year LL. B. (Hons.) the total fees per year is ₹ 1,50,000 for domestic students. The first semester costs ₹ 75,000 along with ₹ 10,000 as an admission fee.

For NRI students, the tuition fee is $4000 per annum. In addition, they have to make a one-time payment towards a development fee of $1000 as well as an application fee of $100. The overhead expenses include a special fee of ₹30,000 per annum, an amenities fee of ₹2,000 per annum, and ₹2,000 per annum for the course materials. And the Bar Council Inspection Fee of ₹ 500 also has to be paid by the NRI candidates.

Placements

Over 85% of the students studying at Bharat Institute of Law are offered an internship at notable companies. The placement opportunities are excellent, and the college faculty works towards the betterment of the students. The placement cell of the college also works very hard for the future of all the students. MNCs and technical companies usually visit the college to hire graduating students.

Cut-offs

The cut-offs vary every year, and to apply to the college the student has to meet the eligibility criteria. The 10 + 2 marks are taken into consideration for graduate programmes, and for the postgraduate programs the CGPA of the preceding degree is taken into consideration.

International Statistics 

The Institute offers 12 NRI seats out of the 120 seats in the BA, LL. B. (Hons.) course, BBA, LL. B. (Hons.) programme, as well as B.Com., LL. B. (Hons.) program every year. In the post-graduate degree course which is the three-year LL. B., 18 seats out of the 180 seats are secured for international and NRI students. They have a separate fee structure for international students.
