Jamia Millia Islamia has begun a 21-day teacher training program to increase the capacity of school teachers.

In coordination with each other, the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and the Faculty of Education have initiated a twenty-one-day in-service training programme for Jamia school teachers from May 31 to June 20, 2022. The program aims to impart training to the teachers and build the capacity of 50+ teachers in schools – Jamia Middle School, Mushir Fatima Nursery School, Jamia Senior Secondary School and Balak Mata Centre.

The School inauguration session began with a great address by respected prof. Atiqur Rahman, Principal, Jamia Senior Secondary School. In his worthy words, he talks about the importance of imparting In-service Training programs to teachers to boost their pedagogical competencies and academic growth to meet the challenges of the online teaching and classroom. The inaugural session’s Chief guest was JMI Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma.

Teacher Training Highlights

The Vice-Chancellor has addressed the importance of the In-service Training Program for the teachers and spoke about how teaching is known to be the noblest profession.

She said, “You are lucky to be in this profession and catering to the needs of society. Now the responsibility falls upon you to take the nation forward.”

Prof. Akhtar has stated that: Most of the time capacity building of teachers is ignored, which may lead to unpleasant educational outcomes. To lessen this gap, in-service training programmes are initiated, which is a great way to update knowledge and understanding of contemporary nuances of education.

Prof. Aejaz Masih, Dean, Faculty of Education, has spoken about the expectations they are looking forward to from the in-service training program.

Professor Masih has addressed the concerns and issues of education in general, especially after the post-covid time. He has emphasized that there is a need for in-service training to increase the capacity of teachers in making classrooms inclusive, handling classrooms diversity and blended learning. He has emphasized the urgent requirement for the mind -on classroom activities to bridge that education gap.

Dr. Ansar Ahmad, Programme coordinator, Department of Teacher Training & NFE (IASE), JMI, said that 3 weeks would be important for the participants. As eminent expert speakers from different domains will interact with them on NEP 2020, teaching-learning scenarios in the post-COVID time and other concerns, issues and themes of school education.
