Eligibility Criteria

The university offers admission to bright minds from the whole world, as they don’t put any academic restrictions to apply for the admission. Although there are some of the basic requirements like the students who are applying for the undergraduate program should have passed their higher secondary school from a recognized board of education. 

The students who wish to get admission to the master's programs need to have an undergraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university. There are some of the optional entrance examinations like SAT and ACT that can be helpful for the students to get admitted to their desired courses. 

For admission to the doctoral programs, students are required to have a master’s degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university. The students have to go through various interviews to get selected for the doctoral programs.

Admission

The applicants need to follow the given procedures to get admission to the university in their desired courses.

  • The University of Chicago Supplement should be submitted with either the Coalition Application or the Common Application, as appropriate.
  • The candidates should register themselves using one of the above mentioned methods.
  • After the registration with some of the personal information, the applicants have to fill in an application form with all the required information.
  • After completing the application form they have to pay an application fee to submit the form.
  • The students are required to apply separately for the SAT or ACT entrance examination as their scores can help them to get preferred over others.
  • The applicants from India have to appear in one of the English language proficiency tests at international level to increase their chances of selection.
  • After the submission of applications from the students, the admission committee at the university reviews all the application forms and selects some out of them for the personal interview before the final selection.
  • The selected candidates have to perform well in the personal interview to finally get selected for their desired courses.

Fees

The tuition and course fee at the university is between $6200 and $6300; that is only the fee one has to pay for the courses they need to take for one year. 

The cost of attendance, which includes other things like housing, dining, transport, and several other expenses, is around $4100 for an academic year in 2022-23. 

Students need to be briefed about their financial expenses before applying to the university, as that will boost their chances of being selected and getting their student visa approved.

Campus facilities

The campus of the university is located in Chicago and has a beautiful infrastructure from the inside out that is fully green and offers a suitable environment for the students to complete their academic process. The campus offers facilities like housing, dining, health and wellness, legal, financial, global perspective, emergency and crisis management, career and placement, spiritual life, and many more.

The campus offers a total of 7 residence halls that have various houses that accommodate undergraduate and graduate students. There is a facility for single, double, and apartment type occupancies. Various other facilities, like heating, cooling, cleaning, furniture, and other amenities, are given to the students in the residency.

The university offers health and wellness facilities that include immunization, physical therapy, allergy injections, flu vaccines, mental health consulting, sports medicine, and many more. The students are treated for mental, physical, and social traumas. 

The university also offers career assistance for the students to make sure that they get a satisfying professional job at the end of their academic session. These programs include internships, research, and practical jobs that are necessary to be completed by students in the process of gaining a proper job for the rest of their professional career.

Scholarship

The students do not need to worry about that huge amount of the fee they have to pay to get enrolled at the university, as there are a number of financial aid options such as scholarships, grants, and educational loans available for the students. The university offers both need based aid and merit based scholarship schemes for the students.

The students can benefit from the scholarship schemes like Susanne H. Rudolph Scholarship which is offered to the applicants on the basis of their applications. Any scholarships, fellowships, and assistantships awarded to students are valued according to their graduate division or professional school.

Graduate students planning to teach in high-need public or private elementary or secondary schools can receive up to a $4,000 grant each year through the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program.

Federal and non-federal loan programs are both managed by the University of Chicago. The Federal Program offers you the most enticing selection of loan options, but some alternative lenders may also be able to offer you fair terms.
