The main campus of the university, which was first constructed in the 1960s, has continued to develop over the years and now houses 11 of our 14 faculties, top-notch research and athletics facilities, and a wide range of support services for students, faculty, and staff. The campus, which is situated in Calgary's northwest quadrant, covers an area larger than the downtown area by more than 200 hectares.
The academic buildings for the sciences, engineering, biology, social sciences, and kinesiology are on the northern side of campus, while the residence halls for thousands of students and Hotel Alma, our on-campus retreat for visitors, are on the southern side. The professional faculties, which include education, environmental design, nursing, social work, business, and law are located here.
The Taylor Family Digital Library, the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning, and the MacEwan Student Centre serve as hubs of academic and recreational activity in the center of campus. Fine arts and humanities facilities include the Art Building, Craigie Hall, and various performance theaters that are located close to the main entrance.
Students who apply for admission to the university are eligible for scholarships and bursaries offered by the institution. The university offers scholarships and awards on the basis of an application form, as the students have to submit a separate application form to be considered for the awards and scholarships. The Prestige Award is given to the candidates who have completed all the procedures of the application form before the deadline. Same is followed in the International Entrance Award, where the students have to apply for the scholarships before the deadline. For the athletic awards, students do not need to fill out any application forms as they just have to participate in the athletic events happening on campus, and the university itself nominates the candidates' eligibility for the award.
