The History Museum has artifacts dating back to the establishment of the University in the 1870s. Several domestic and foreign dignitaries and heads of state have visited this museum. Belgorod State University is one of the few institutions of higher learning in Russia that has its own Orthodox Church.

The Sports Complex at BSU is one of the most advanced buildings of its kind at any Russian University. It is named after Svetlana Khorkina, a graduate of BSU who won seven Olympic medals in gymnastics events. It has training facilities and competition arenas for national and international levels.
