Overview

Course Highlight

The university offers various courses at 12 schools and divisions in several specializations. Some of them are mentioned below.

Eligibility Criteria

The university offers admission to students from all around the world in various academic programs at different academic levels. The university does not offer admission on the basis of any standardized test like the SAT or ACT. The international students are required to appear in an English proficiency test. Some of the general eligibility criteria are listed below. 

As a first-year applicant, students must possess a high school diploma (or an equivalent like 10+2) and meet the admission criteria, which includes taking comparable courses, meeting the criteria for scholarships, answering questions about their personal lives, and submitting a portfolio.

For admission to the postgraduate programs, a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or from a reputable university-level academic institution abroad is required of successful applicants, along with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or its equivalent, by the time they enroll. Some outstanding candidates with lower GPAs might be suggested for admission.

For admission to the doctoral programs, students are required to have a postgraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university.

Admission

The applicants need to follow the given procedure to gain admission to their desired courses at the university.

  • The candidates need to visit the official website of the university.
  • The candidates are required to choose their desired courses to proceed further.
  • The candidates need to find whether they are eligible for their desired course or not. If they are eligible they can proceed further.
  • The candidates need to visit the admission portal by clicking on the “Apply Now” tab.
  • The candidates need to register themselves on the admission portal with their email IDs.
  • The candidates need to login with their email IDs to fill in the application form.
  • The candidates have to fill out the application form with all the required details by submitting their previous academic records, transcripts, and recommendation letters.
  • The students from India have to appear in an English proficiency test to prove their understanding of the language.
  • The candidates need not to appear in any entrance examination like the SAT or ACT.
  • The candidates are required to pay an application fee to submit their application form.
  • The admission committee at the university will review the application form and select the deserving candidates for the admission.
  • The selected candidates are informed to submit the admission fee to confirm their admission in their desired courses at the university.

Fees

The university's major motive is to provide higher education on campus at the lowest possible cost. The general tuition fee for the undergraduate course is $17361. And the total cost of attendance, which will include books and supplies, housing and dining, and other expenses, is $37500 for the California residents living on campus.The cost of attendance for a non-California resident student will be $68526 for on campus.

For the graduate courses at the university, students are required to pay a tuition fee of $17910. The total cost of attendance for California residents living on campus will be $37140, while non-California residents will have to pay $52242 for the academic year 2022-23.

Campus facilities

La Jolla Shores, Torrey Pines, and University City surround the campus of UC San Diego, which is situated in the northern San Diego neighborhood of La Jolla. The 1200-acre main campus is made up of 761 buildings, while natural areas make up about 889 acres, and outlying facilities take up the remaining space.

The campus offers all the facilities, like housing, dining, athletics, arts and culture, clubs and organizations, and all other facilities that are required by the students to complete their academic sessions. The campus has more than 500 organizations of students, and they perform various tasks and have various motives according to their passions.

The campus is constantly buzzing with creativity, whether it be in theater, dance, music, or film. Students got an opportunity to find their own unique way to produce art and interact with established and up-and-coming artists. The athletic events at the university are also very popular, and they attract audiences from every academic field.

Scholarship

The students do not need to worry about the huge tuition fee and cost of attendance at the university because it offers various kinds of financial assistance such as grants, scholarship schemes, work-study, loans, and various others.

The university offers scholarships to students entering their first year, entering transfer students, continuing undergraduates, enrolled transfer students, receiving undergraduate research scholarships, and many more.
