Eligibility Criteria

The admission requirements for McMaster University vary depending on the student's chosen academic path. The university takes nine common curricula into consideration, and Indian students must meet the same admissions standards as other international students. The candidates have to appear in an English proficiency test like IELTS or TOEFL to prove their understanding of the language.

The students are required to have a 10+2 passing certificate from a recognized board of education like CBSE or CISCE to apply for admission to the undergraduate courses at the university. The students must have studied similar subjects in their prior education to apply for a course.

For admission to the postgraduate programs at the university, students are required to have an undergraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university. For admission to the doctoral programs, students are required to have a postgraduate degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university. 

Depending on the course they want to take, the students might have to take an entrance exam to increase their chances of getting accepted to the university.

The applicants need to follow the given procedure to gain admission to their desired courses at the university.

  • The applicants have to decide the courses they want to enroll in at the university and then check their eligibility criteria.
  • If the eligibility criteria matches with their prior education and marks then they can proceed to apply for the admission.
  • The university offers different application forms depending upon the disciplines.
  • The candidates need to find the application form of their desired courses at the admission portal and register themselves first.
  • Establish an OUAC account. Keep a note of the login information, including password, and store it safely. They will be required in the future to access one’s application. Secure and maintain the privacy of this information.
  • The application must be filled out completely.
  • Before selecting "I Verify and Agree," review the program choices.
  • Make sure to send in the application and payment well in advance of the program's deadline.
  • Keep a note of the OUAC Reference Number and store it securely. Every time you get in touch with the OUAC and your university options, you must use this number.
  • The candidates can modify their information until the application deadline.
  • The admissions committee at the university reviews the application form, and the selected students are informed to submit the details of their fee submission to confirm their admission.

Fees

Most of the courses at the university have a tuition fee of around $44,000. The arts and sciences have an estimated tuition fee of $43,116, tuition fee for computer science is $50,047.20, tuition fee for business courses is $44,503.20, tuition fee for social science is $40,960. Estimated tuition fees for engineering courses are $61,724.88, and so on.

The cost of attendance at the university also includes several other expenses like housing, dining, books and supplies, medical expenses, transportation, and various other additional expenses that will depend upon the lifestyle of the individual.

Campus facilities

The location of McMaster University is in the Golden Horseshoe city of Hamilton, located at the westernmost point of Lake Ontario. The main campus is surrounded by residential communities on its east and west, Cootes Paradise, a sizable natural marshland, to the north, Main Street West, a major thoroughfare, to the south; these features together form what is known as the "campus perimeter."

The campus offers facilities like housing, dining, sports and recreation, arts and culture, gyms, libraries, shuttle buses, ATMs, wifi coverage, stores, and many more. Whatever sport or extracurricular activity a student prefers, the university has the tools to support their success in that area.

Scholarship

The university provides students with a variety of scholarship programs and other forms of financial aid. Depending on the students' eligibility, some scholarship programs give scholarships directly to recipients, while others require applicants to fill out an application. Students have access to need-based and merit-based scholarship programs.

Entrance awards are financial incentives given to new students who have demonstrated academic excellence and, in some cases, additional forms of earned merit. Most are given out automatically, but some call for an application. The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are the first all-inclusive, leadership-focused scholarships offered in Canada to students pursuing master's and professional degrees.

By identifying and developing leadership potential, the Wilson Leadership Scholar Award helps undergraduate and graduate students become Canada's future leaders. Wilson Leaders devote roughly 15 hours per month to meeting with mentors and subject matter experts, engaging in new activities and expanding on existing interests, and working toward their professional and personal objectives.
