Eligibility Criteria

For admission to the undergraduate programs, the students who are in their 10+2 are advised to apply during their examinations. The university allows only freshmen to apply for first year admission. Those who have already enrolled in any other courses at the graduate level cannot apply.

The university receives a lot of applications, and they are only able to provide admission to less than 5% of the applicants, as the students are advised not to entirely depend on them for their education. The cutoffs are very high, and the students with the best previous academic records and the highest scores in TOEFL, SAT, and ACT are preferred by the university.

Admission

The applicants need to follow the given procedure to apply for admission at MIT.

  • The applicants are advised to visit the official website of MIT and click on the admission tab.
  • The applicants will be redirected to a new admission portal where they need to register themselves with the email IDs, name, and date of birth.
  • After registering on the portal the students have to fill an application form, where they have to specify the qualification details and previous academic records.
  • The applicant needs to submit the completed application form.
  • The completed application will be read by a senior admissions officer who will take it into account holistically and within its appropriate context.
  • Additional admissions officers will review any outstanding applications and summarize their findings for the admissions committee.
  • These summaries, along with the rest of the application, will be sent to the selection committee, where a number of groups of various faculty members and members of the admissions staff will weigh in.
  • Before an application is added to the admit pile, it will be heavily discussed and debated by at least a dozen individuals.
  • The selected candidates will be informed by the university side and they have to enroll within the given time.

The campus of the university is situated in Cambridge, United States, and spreads over an area of 166 acres. The university offers housing and dining, sports facilities, arts and culture facilities, medical facilities, and many more. At MIT, there are nearly 20 retail restaurants, five dining halls, and meal plans that let students take advantage of everything.

The Engineers compete in 33 varsity sports, including more than 1,500 All-America honors in athletics, and 16 men's, 15 women's, and two co-ed teams. They also have 318 academic All-America citations, which is the most in the nation. The creative environment at MIT, which encourages experimentation and innovation across all fields, is naturally conducive to the arts. on a campus with more than 3,500 renowned pieces of modern art and historical structures.

MIT Scholarship

This is a scholarship scheme offered by the funding generated by MIT alumni, friends, and general MIT funding. MIT awards scholarships to about 58% of the undergraduate population. For 2021–2022, MIT scholarships on average were $53,997.

Every student who applies for financial aid must complete the College Scholarship Service (CSS) from the College Board. It is used by many private colleges and universities, like MIT, to award financial aid.
