Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of different courses offered at Harvard University change according to the requirements of the courses, but some of the basic requirements for various undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses are listed below.

For admissions to the UG courses, students have to pass their higher secondary school from a recognized board of education with the similar specialization to their desired undergraduate courses. The students are expected to have extraordinary previous academic records to be selected at the university.

For admission to the PG courses. The students are required to have a bachelor's degree in a similar specialization from a recognized university. Some courses also require some work experience in that specific field prior to admission to the university.

For doctoral courses, students are required to complete their graduate course in a similar specialization from a recognized university. The students are required to have some working experience with extraordinary academic records to confirm their seat at the university.

Admission

The candidates need to follow the given procedure to get admission to the university in the desired courses.

  • Harvard university offers two platforms for the applicants to apply for their desired courses. One is a Common Application and the other one is a Coalition Application.
  • The candidates need to visit the official website of Harvard University and click on the admission tab after selecting their courses inside the academic link.
  • The students can get the admission portal of a Common Application which is https://www.commonapp.org/.
  • The second link for admission is https://www.coalitionforcollegeaccess.org/.
  • The students need to create an account on their preferred portal to proceed further.
  • The students need to fill in an application form with their personal and academic qualifications details.
  • The candidates can also provide their SAT or ACT scores for the better chances to get selected.
  • The admission committee at the university decides the list of the selected candidates after reviewing their applications.
  • The selected students get informed by the university and asked for the confirm their admission by submitting their admission fees.

Campus facilities

The campus of Harvard University is located in Cambridge, United States, and spreads over an area of 209 acres, which includes marvelous buildings and beautiful green infrastructure. There are 28 libraries at the university that contain over 20 million books and 400 million rare items, including letters, photographs, and manuscripts. The libraries are equipped with modern facilities, as 6 million digital copies are available for the students.

Harvard has a number of museums resulting from the hard core research of the students over 4 centuries. The students and visitors keep visiting the museum to unlock their knowledge about heritage and science.

The university also promotes athleticism in the students at the highest level and for that they offer all the facilities to the students within the campus. Many of the students end up participating at the national and international level.

Harvard University offers placement opportunities to the students completing their degrees at the campus. Various reputed companies visit the university for campus placement drives. Harvard Business School is known for its placement records, as 95% of the students willing to take jobs receive job offers from top companies. The median base salary of the students is $175k per year. The doctoral students are highly placed as professors in various universities all across the world. The major recruiters of the university are Apple Inc, Amazon, Bolt, Cisco, Cobalt Robotics, DeepMind, Deloitte, eBay, Facebook, H&M, IBM, and many more.

Scholarship

It is very expensive to study at Harvard University, as mentioned above, but the university also provides financial aid to the students in the form of scholarships, fellowships, and loans. The university offers scholarships to 55% of the total students, and the scholarship fund is generated by the Harvard endowment funds, gifts from alumni, general tuition revenues, and federal and state grants.

More than 2,000 unique endowment and gift funds, including a game-changing $150 million gift from Ken Griffin '89, have been established by kind alumni and donors for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Scholarship program.

There are various other scholarship programs that are funded by federal and state grants, and some scholarship programs come from outside of Harvard.
