Ecole des Ponts ParisTech offers Master's and Doctoral courses through 9 Departments. It also has a First Year program department that conducts foundation courses for engineering students during their freshman period, after which they complete two years of their Master’s degree.
Applicants to Master’s programs at ENPC must satisfy the following requirements:
Applicants to doctoral programs at ENPC must hold a postgraduate degree from a recognized institution of higher learning. The degree should be related to the topic on which the candidate proposes to conduct research, and the application must be supported by a faculty supervisor who has already approved the research direction.
All applicants (domestic and international) to Ecole des Ponts ParisTech must fill out the online application form through the school website. Deadlines for applying vary according to the program; details can be found on individual degree webpages. Along with the application form, all the required documents must be scanned, certified by the relevant authorities, and uploaded. The School typically responds with a decision over email within a month of receiving each application.
Candidates who receive an offer of admission from ENPC must fill out a registration form; which can either be done online or on paper, and then mail it to the school. After this, the registration fees must be paid online. After this, the admission is confirmed. International applicants must apply for a French long-stay student visa after this step; the main additional piece of information required for a successful visa application is proof of funding for the degree.
Upon reaching the School, all international students must keep the originals of the uploaded documents ready in case of inspection. They must also apply for Residence Permits via the local authorities in the first week of their stay in France.
International students at ENPC who are not from a European Union country must pay the full registration fee of 2,765 Euros per year. Though the Government of France subsidizes the tuition fees, registration costs allow French Universities to recoup administrative and research costs. This amount must be paid in full at the time of registration. At the same time, a one time contribution towards Student Social Security of 215 Euros must also be paid by all students.
In addition, students at the School must pay the student life and campus contribution (CVEC) fee. This amounts to 95 Euros per year, and is used to fund healthcare, sports, cultural, and campus facilities for students. A certificate of successful payment of this fee is needed to confirm acceptance of the offer of admission. The CVEC fee is applicable to all students except those admitted under exceptional circumstances, e.g. refugees and asylum seekers.
Students who choose to stay in one of the partner residences of ENPC pay relatively low accommodation fees, with monthly rents ranging between 300 and 500 Euros. Students who opt for private housing pay significantly higher rents, with the maximum rent for a room in an apartment in central Paris possibly exceeding 1,000 Euros per month. Other living costs include food, transportation, shopping for personal items, and study materials. These add up to approximately 500 Euros per month.
The main campus (Cité Descartes) of Ecole des Ponts ParisTech is in eastern Paris, in the Champs-sur-Marne region. It is within an academic and research hub, and is home to most of the students at the School. There is also a secondary administrative campus within the heart of Paris, in the Maison des Ponts region.
Student Associations form the highest level of decision making bodies related to student life at ENPC. They come together to organize parties, dinners, and welcome events. The Student Office members are elected every year, and decide budgets for important annual events like cultural week and sports meets. They also represent the students in important decision making meetings with the college administration.
Develop'Ponts is the student association dedicated to solidarity and social justice. It has six priorities: Environment, Equality, Humanitarian, Solidarity, Social Openness, and Refugee Welfare.
There are several dozen Student Clubs at ENPC. They are organized into five categories:
Both beginners and experienced students are welcome to join any of the 40+ clubs on campus.
The School provides student housing next to campus for all international students, should they choose this option. These are relatively low cost due to their location in suburban Paris and their agreement with ENPC.
ENPC has a sustainable development and social responsibility plan that is regularly evaluated and updated.
ENPC has an enviable reputation in the industry, and its graduates have access to strong career opportunities in the research and corporate sectors. The top three industries in which recent graduates are placed are Construction (28%), Telecommunications and Information Technology (19%), and Banking & Financial Services (13%). The average starting salary is 47,000 Euros per year.
The most prestigious financial award for international students at ENPC is the Scholarship of the Fondation des Ponts. This program selects awardees based on academic excellence in their undergraduate degree and future research potential. The average value of the scholarship is 10,000 Euros, awarded over a period of 3 semesters. This covers the full registration fee in addition to a portion of the living costs.
The Ecole des Ponts ParisTech Social Criteria Scholarships are designed to give students from all backgrounds equal opportunities to study at the School. Awardees are selected based on their annual household income. The amount of the scholarship varies based on the income statement; the aim is to help students with living costs and registration fees to the maximum extent possible.
Several Corporate Fellowships are awarded to postgraduate students of ENPC by industry partners of the School. Students are selected based on their excellent academic performance. Some of the largest French companies and asset managers are part of the Fellowship program, including Meridiam and Saint Gobain.
The most prestigious French Government financial aid scheme for international students is the Eiffel Scholarship, administered by the Foreign Ministry of the country. Awardees are selected based on academic excellence in April every year, and are given a stipend of 1,700 Euros per month; this is usually ample to cover all living costs and pay the annual registration fees as well.
