In the recently announced UPSC Civil Services (Mains) Examination 2023 results, Ishita Kishore has emerged as the overall topper this year, clinching the coveted All-India Rank (AIR) 1. Meanwhile, Garima Lohia has achieved a prestigious Second AIR. Notably, all top four positions have been conquered by exceptional women candidates.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the merit list of successful candidates recommended for appointment, based on the combined performance in the written part of the Civil Services Examination conducted in September 2022, and the subsequent interviews for the Personality Test held from January to May 2023.
A total of 933 candidates have received recommendations for appointments in various esteemed positions, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Central Services Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
The breakdown of recommended candidates reveals that among them, 345 candidates belong to the general category, 99 candidates belong to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 263 candidates are from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 154 candidates are from Scheduled Castes (SC), and 72 candidates hail from Scheduled Tribes (ST). Additionally, a consolidated reserve list features 178 candidates.
The vacancies to be filled this year include 180 positions for IAS, 38 positions for IFS, 200 positions for IPS, 473 positions for Central Services Group ‘A’, and 131 positions for Group ‘B’ services.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination stands as one of the most prestigious and competitive exams in India, attracting talented individuals from diverse backgrounds who aspire to serve the nation through administrative and leadership roles.
