Central University of Andhra Pradesh holds a special place in the Indian University System. It was born out of a promise made by Government of India to fulfill the aspirations of people of Andhra Pradesh on the eve of bifurcation of the erstwhile composite state of Andhra Pradesh into Telengana and Andhra Pradesh. The University is established in 2018 in the district head quarter town of Anantapuramu in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The Region has immense historical significance as it forms the part of the Vijayanagara Empire ruled by majestic king Sri Krishnadevaraya, among others. The folklore of the region is richly filled with the stories of Sri Krishnadevaraya’s people centric rule and several welfare measures. That apart the region is also known for its mineral deposits and salubrious climate of the Deccan Plateau. The region also is known for sericulture and horticulture crops. As a feather in the cap the global auto major KIA started its operations in a green field project, just 60 KMs away from Ananthapuramu city. Further Ananthapuramu is also a prominent educational hub with higher educational institutes such as Sri Krishnadevaraya university, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Government Medical College and a century old Government Arts College, apart from a host of engineering colleges.
Establishment of Central University of Andhra Pradesh heralds a new era in the sphere of higher education. With innovative academic programs which are socially and culturally relevant, the university is, poised for rapid growth in the years to come. Transforming students into knowledgeable and responsible citizens of the nation through value based education with an emphasis on interactive learning coupled with hands on experience is the hallmark of this new university. The Central Library plays a vital role in supporting the academic and research activities of the University. It continuously enriches its collection of books, textbooks, and reference materials, carefully aligning them with the curriculum and research requirements. The library is fully automated using Koha, ensuring efficient and user-friendly services for faculty, students, and research scholars.
The library houses a rich collection of over 35,642 books (7,000 titles), along with 201 dissertations and 150 CDs/DVDs. It also subscribes to 14 print journals and magazines and 10 newspapers in Telugu and English. In addition, users have access to more than 15,000 e-journals, including a large number of peer-reviewed full-text resources and content available through ONOS & JSTOR.
To strengthen digital learning, the library provides access to over six lakh e-books and postgraduate resources through platforms such as ILMS and the National Digital Library of India. A dedicated section is also available to support students preparing for competitive examinations.
The library actively promotes research awareness and digital literacy by organizing workshops and user orientation programs. Notable initiatives include a national workshop on “AI and Open Access: Boosting Research Visibility and Ethics” and awareness sessions on e-resource platforms. The University has further strengthened its digital access by signing an MoU with the INFLIBNET Centre.
The library is well-equipped with modern facilities, including two spacious WiFi-enabled reading halls, 13 computers for accessing e-resources, and photocopying and printing services. It also ensures inclusive education by supporting visually impaired students with assistive technology like Kibo XS and providing access to Sugamya Pustakalaya by the DAISY Forum of India, offering books in accessible formats such as audio, Braille, and DAISY.

The laboratory supports observational astronomy, astrophysical data analysis, Earth observation studies, and simulation-based research. It facilitates activities such as celestial observations, image processing, spectral analysis, satellite data interpretation, and computational modelling for applications including astrophysics, planetary science, cosmology, space environment studies, and remote sensing-based geospatial analysis.

This Language Lab, developed by SoftX Technologies Private Limited, adopts a proven methodology of Listening, Understanding, and Speaking to ensure long-term language retention. Students practice pronunciation, phonetics, intonation, and communication skills using headphones and microphones, allowing self-evaluation and improvement. The Teacher Console facilitates real-time monitoring, two-way voice interaction, group discussions, and assessments, ensuring personalized guidance. The system is cost-effective, user-friendly, and easy to install. The software was purchased on 03 January 2024 and installed on 10 January 2024 at the Central University of Andhra Pradesh, supporting academic and professional language development.
