Overview

Central University of Andhra Pradesh holds a special place in the Indian University System. It was born out of a promise made by Government of India to fulfill the aspirations of people of Andhra Pradesh on the eve of bifurcation of the erstwhile composite state of Andhra Pradesh into Telengana and Andhra Pradesh. The University is established in 2018 in the district head quarter town of Anantapuramu in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The Region has immense historical significance as it forms the part of the Vijayanagara Empire ruled by majestic king Sri Krishnadevaraya, among others. The folklore of the region is richly filled with the stories of Sri Krishnadevaraya’s people centric rule and several welfare measures. That apart the region is also known for its mineral deposits and salubrious climate of the Deccan Plateau. The region also is known for sericulture and horticulture crops. As a feather in the cap the global auto major KIA started its operations in a green field project, just 60 KMs away from Ananthapuramu city. Further Ananthapuramu is also a prominent educational hub with higher educational institutes such as Sri Krishnadevaraya university, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Government Medical College and a century old Government Arts College, apart from a host of engineering colleges.

Establishment of Central University of Andhra Pradesh heralds a new era in the sphere of higher education. With innovative academic programs which are socially and culturally relevant, the university is, poised for rapid growth in the years to come. Transforming students into knowledgeable and responsible citizens of the nation through value based education with an emphasis on interactive learning coupled with hands on experience is the hallmark of this new university. Accordingly, the university envisages to offer demand driven multi disciplinary courses focusing on experiential learning through several short and long term vocational courses in active collaboration with the industry.

The university in course of time will also rollout Study India Program to cater to the needs of the foreign students with academic grades/credits transfer option.

Free Education Policy

The Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP) is committed to promoting inclusive, equitable, and accessible higher education for all eligible students. As part of its commitment to social inclusion, the University provides educational support and applicable fee concessions to students belonging to Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Dependent (DP) categories, subject to the prevailing Government of India rules and University regulations.

Eligible PwD students are provided appropriate support and concessions in accordance with applicable statutory provisions, ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to pursuing higher education. The University also facilitates a supportive academic environment by promoting accessibility, equal opportunities, and necessary assistance for students with disabilities.

Students belonging to the DP category are also provided applicable educational benefits and fee concessions as per the prescribed norms. Such measures are intended to recognize their circumstances and enable them to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and other academic programmes at CUAP.

Through these initiatives, CUAP aims to ensure that students from these categories have equitable access to quality education and academic opportunities. Grievance Redressal Mechanism

Anti-Ragging Policy

The Anti-Ragging Committee shall function in accordance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 and subsequent amendments. It shall ensure strict compliance of anti-ragging measures, create awareness among students, monitor preventive mechanisms, and look into complaints related to ragging, recommending appropriate action as per norms.

ST/SC/OBC Cell

The Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP) has established the SC/ST/OBC Cell to ensure the effective implementation of the constitutional provisions, Government of India policies, and University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines relating to the welfare and empowerment of students and employees belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

The Cell is committed to promoting an inclusive, equitable, and discrimination-free academic environment by safeguarding the rights and interests of members of these communities.

Objectives

  • To ensure equal opportunities for SC, ST, and OBC students and employees in academic and administrative activities.
  • To create awareness about the constitutional safeguards, Government welfare schemes, and reservation policies.
  • To provide guidance and support regarding scholarships, fellowships, and other educational assistance.
  • To promote social inclusion, equality, and harmony on the University campus.

Functions of the Cell

  • Monitors the implementation of reservation policies and Government of India guidelines.
  • Addresses grievances and complaints related to discrimination, harassment, or denial of rights.
  • Facilitates the timely resolution of issues concerning SC, ST, and OBC students and employees.
  • Organizes awareness programmes, seminars, and workshops on constitutional rights, social justice, and inclusive education.
  • Coordinates with University authorities and Government agencies to ensure effective implementation of welfare measures.

Student Support Services

The SC/ST/OBC Cell assists eligible students by:

  • Providing information and guidance on Government scholarships, fellowships, and financial assistance schemes.
  • Facilitating access to academic support and mentoring.
  • Creating awareness about career development opportunities and skill enhancement programmes.

Grievance Redressal

The Cell provides a confidential and transparent mechanism for receiving and resolving grievances related to discrimination or any issues affecting the academic and professional well-being of SC, ST, and OBC students and employees. All complaints are addressed promptly, fairly, and in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions.
