AICTE Launches New ATAL Academy Faculty Development Programme 2023-24, Insights about Inventors Challenge-2023, and More

AICTE Launches New Programs: The ATAL Academy Faculty Development Programme 2023–24 will go into effect in 2023, according to the announcement made by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which is a bold step toward changing India’s higher education system. The ATAL portal and scheme were officially launched by the honorable chairman, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, who emphasized equipping faculty members with the skills and knowledge required for Education 4.0. This program supports the National Education Policy 2020 and aims to equip teachers with the skills they need to excel as leaders, researchers, innovators, and teachers in their respective fields.

AICTE’s Chairman on the Launch of a New Program:

Professor T.G. Sitharam states, “The ATAL Academy FDPs are a visionary step towards transforming India’s higher education system in line with the National Education Policy 2020. The ATAL Academy will give faculty members the tools they need to succeed as leaders, researchers, innovators, and teachers in their respective fields. Additionally, faculty members’ professional development will be aided by the ATAL Academy’s promotion of a culture of lifelong learning.”

Vice Chairman of AICTE on the Beginning of the New Program:

Dr. Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman of the AICTE, stated that the ATAL Academy is a special platform that will give professors access to top-notch FDPs on various subjects important to Education 4.0. The ATAL Academy will also allow faculty members to network with other professionals and experts from various industries and fields. A pool of knowledgeable and assured professors who can contribute to the growth of the knowledge society will be produced by the ATAL Academy.

Impact of AICTE’s New Program

Faculty members can access excellent Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) that cover technical and non-technical domains through the ATAL Academy. Offline FDPs can be offered in various subjects, including engineering, management, computer applications, arts and crafts, life skills development, the Indian Knowledge System, universal human values, and more, by institutions that the AICTE has approved. These courses will cover subject-matter expertise, industry connections, instructional techniques, research prowess, life skills, civic responsibility, and professional development.

What is the Inventors Challenge-2023?

In addition to launching the ATAL Academy, AICTE unveiled the second iteration of the “Inventors Challenge-2023” in partnership with Arm Education and STMicroelectronics. This competition seeks creative sustainability solutions concerning four sub-themes—clean energy, industry innovation and infrastructure, good health and wellbeing, and sustainable cities and communities. Teams of one faculty member and up to four students may include faculty members and engineering students enrolled in diploma, undergraduate, and graduate programs.

The competition, officially launched by Prof. T.G. Sitharam, builds on the success of the previous edition and showcases AICTE’s dedication to knowledge exchange between industry and academia. The competition aided India’s efforts to build a strong semiconductor ecosystem and establish itself as a major center for electronics production and design. Ideas must be submitted by August 10, 2023, to be considered.
